Romans 5:8
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 6:23b
"...but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 10:9,13
"...if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved...‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’"

Who is Jesus?

Jesus is God.  Jesus is also man...He's the God-man.  He is unique.  He is the second person of the Trinity.  He is the creator of all things.  He has always been God, but became the God-man at the incarnation, when He was born of a virgin about 2000 years ago.
Ok, now you're probably asking “Why would God become man?”.
The answer is to be the propitiation for our sins, for His glory.
There is a lot to understand in that short sentence. Propitiation is the wiping away of sins and it also refers to the satisfaction or appeasement of God’s wrath, turning it to favor towards us.
Now you may be looking at that 'sin' word and be thinking that is talking about someone else, because you're a good person.  You are right, it is talking about everyone else (except Jesus), and you too.  Good is a relative term and you may be better than some people, but God's standard is not good, it is perfection.  God is perfect and He can't be in the presence of sin.  So what is sin?  Sin is simply disobedience and disbelief.  When we disobey what God wants us to do, or do not believe in Him, we are sinning.
So Jesus, being fully God, became fully man also.  He did not stop being God.  He did this so He could live a perfect sinless life, die a substitutionary death...to be buried for 3 days, and to rise up from the grave alive.  Later, He ascended into Heaven, where He sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for His chosen people.

The Apostle Paul wrote a letter to the Christians in Rome, in about 57AD.  In this letter he outlined the Christian Faith.  The following are a collection of some of the verses from that letter.
•    Romans 3:23 - for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
•    Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
•    Romans 5:8 - but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
•    Romans 10:9-10 - because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
•    Romans 10:13 - For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
In these verses, we see that we are all sinners, and the penalty for that sin is death.  That is the bad news, but the Gospel, or "Good News" is that God, in His love for us, sent Jesus to take our place, to die for our sins, on the cross.  Through repentance of (turning from) sin and faith in Jesus, we can be made new, or born again in Jesus.
If God is drawing you to Him, speak to Him, in prayer.  Read His words... in the Bible, start in the Gospel of John, where you will learn about Jesus' life, miracles and ministry.
